Sylvia Joan Burger Hitt Morrissey, born March 9, 1930 in Charleston, W VA, and lifelong resident of Nashville, TN, passed from this life March, 4, 2022 at her home in Monkey Island, OK.

She is survived by her two sons, Holley Dean Hitt and Kyle Wayne Hitt, and by her son-as-a-matter-of-choice, Joe Steve Forrester, their spouses, Michael Allan Boyd, Patti Crawford Hitt and Miriam Owen Forrester; granddaughters Ravyn Hitt, Robyn Rogers, Jayme West and Jayde Wolf, their spouses, William Rogers, Sam West and Dusty Wolf; grandson Willian Kegan Boyd, great grandchildren Elijah Wolf and Simon Rogers; stepchildren Keith Morrissey, Karen Morrissey, Darin Morrissey and Jamie Lynch, and their spouses Beckie Morrissey and Thomas Lynch, step grandchildren Lauren Lynch and Jeremy Morrissey, and step great grandson JJ Morrissey, nephew Steve Burger.

Joan was an advocate and optimist, with deep faith, who approached life with passion, love and respect for people and animals. She had many friends and many pets.

Her early career as a fashion model for Cain Sloan Department Store in downtown Nashville, was followed by stints in the fields of cosmetics, aviation and home furnishing. She was an avid gardener, antique car enthusiast, tennis player and amateur floral designer and artist.

Services will be held at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, Friday, March 18, with visitation from 10am until 2pm and service at 2. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN following the service.
