Marvin "Sonny" Griggs

Marvin Thomas Griggs, 73-year-old resident of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on August 17, 2022.

Marvin was born on May 12, 1949, in Grove, OK to Lonnie Griggs and Betty (Engle) Skala.  He proudly served in the US Marines during Vietnam. Marvin married the love of his life Doris “Ann” Oliver in April of 1971.  Marvin worked as an animal control officer.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his children and loving on his grandchildren.  To Marvin, his family meant everything to him, including his brothers in arms. Simper-Fi!

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Connie Bier.  He is survived by his wife, Ann Griggs of the home, three children: Janet Mork and husband John, Brian Griggs and wife Kate, Brandon Griggs and wife Linda all of Oklahoma City, OK, also his brother Steve Griggs and wife Darlene of Kingston, OK and sister Becky Shriver of Bethany, OK.  Marvin was blessed with six grandchildren: Dylan Mork, Colin Mork, Benjamin Griggs, Matthew Griggs, Hannah Cheney and Joli Cheney.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 26, 2022 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. A brief visitation will be held starting at 12:00 noon prior to the services. Marvin will be laid to rest in the Howard Cemetery located east of Grove on E240 Road.  Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK.
