Willard "Bill" Carey

Willard Clyde “Bill” Carey, 86, passed away July 4, 2019 peacefully at the Osage Nursing Center in Nowata, Oklahoma.
Bill was born in Weathers, OK on May 21, 1933 to Thomas Carey and Lotha Cothern. Bill grew up in Weathers, OK where he received his education. After receiving his education he decided to join the US Army to serve his country. After he was honorably discharged out of the service he moved to New Mexico, later to Coffeyville, KS and then in the early 80’s moved to Nowata, OK which became his home.

Bill met the love of his life Bessie Marie Levings and they were married on April 5, 1990 in Nowata, OK. He was employed at Town and Country Supermarket in Nowata, where he was a butcher for many years. He was a very hard worker and would do anything to help someone. Bill was very dedicated to his community, he was a member of the 1033 Emergency Team, drove the wheel chair van for many years and took pride in helping out (even if he didn’t feel well).

Bill was a very active man with plenty of hobbies He loved to bowl, take many of trips to Springfield, MO, enjoyed playing dominoes and was a big fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder and St. Louis Cardinals. He had a heart of gold, it didn’t matter what kind of day you were having he just had a way to put a smile on your face.

Bill is survived by his four children; Robert Carey of Bartlesville, OK, Thomas Carey of Coffeyville, KS, Richie Carey of Coffeyville, KS, Diana Pattison of Tulsa, OK; daughter-in law; Jan Foster St. Louis, MO; granddaughters Pam Thompson Portland, OR; Laura Eden Minneapolis, MN; grandsons Jeffrey Cowan of Ridgecrest, CA and Brian Foster Longmont, CO. Numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and a lifelong friend Norm Weirather of Nowata, OK.

Bill was proceeded in death by his wife Bessie Marie Carey, his parents; Thomas and Lotha Carey, one brother and two sisters.

Bill was a special guy and will be missed by all that knew him.
