Valerie Ward (Horley) July 31, 1937 – October 30, 2025
Valerie Ward passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, following a fall. She was 88 years old. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Valerie’s warmth and grace touched everyone who knew her.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Sandra Moore (Daniel) and Graham Ward; her grandchildren, Joshua (Margo), Jeremy (Corina) and Tyler; and her great-granddaughters, Elkha and Liliana.
Born in England in 1937 to Blanche Horley (Brookman) and Norman S. Horley, Valerie enjoyed a quintessential British upbringing before marrying and beginning a new chapter in the United States. She eventually made her home in Oklahoma City, where she proudly became a U.S. citizen in 2005.
Valerie had a lifelong passion for the arts—whether attending the theater, listening to music, or curating her cherished collection of artwork and collectibles. Her English garden was a source of joy and beauty, reflecting her love of nature and meticulous care.
Professionally, Valerie began her career as a hairdresser and later transitioned into the financial world, retiring as a respected mortgage loan officer at Tinker Federal Credit Union. Her kindness, professionalism, and dedication left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
Valerie’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her elegance, creativity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Norman, Oklahoma, in December.
