Sue Thompson

August 25, 1935 — May 6, 2019

“Sue” Katherine Thompson, age 83 and resident of Bartlesville, passed away on May 6, 2019 at her home.

Sue Katherine Parker was born on August 25, 1935 in Bartlesville.  She was the daughter of ClarencePparker and Ahniwake Leona (Horner) Parker.

Sue was raised in the Bartlesville area.  She attended Labadie Heights school and continued her education through the Bartlesville school system.  Sue was a life-long resident of Bartlesville.

On January 19, 1952, Sue and Clyde E. ”Ed” Thompson were united in marriage in Bartlesville.  Sue was 17 years old.  Sixty-five years later, after three children, Charlie, Elaine and Tim, followed by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a river of water under the bridge, on April 30, 2017, Ed moved on to the great campsite at the end of the trail. Sue had spent the last two years wondering and waiting for their reunion.  Family can just imagine both of them dancing and rejoicing in the love of the Lord in the everafter.

Sue was employed with Jane Phillips Hospital as a housekeeping supervisor for 21 years, retiring in 1991.

Sue was a member of Matoka Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and later was a member of Labadie Heights Baptist Church. She was active in the community in many ways, especially as a volunteer for voter registration.  As a proud breast cancer survivor, she was an avid cancer fundraiser.  She was also a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and was a collector of beaded Indian jewelry.  She had many talents – best chicken fryer, best green-thumb in the family, family and community historian, keeper of many facts and details that most would have long forgotten or not even taken note of.  Sue, in her unique way, always had the scoop, knew what, when and where the next community event or family happening would occur.  Not much got past her.  She was the phone-a-source before Siri or Alexa.  She enjoyed game shows and collectables, but above all family.  There wasn’t a card that she couldn’t add a note to that made you feel cherished and know you were loved.

Sue had her wishes come true.  She was grateful for a blessed life and rewarded by a peaceful death and promised everafter.

Sue is survived by two children, Charlie Thompson and his wife, Dorothy, of Bartlesville and Elaine Thompson, also of Bartlesville; six grandchildren, Corah Thompson, Suzanne Thompson, Joshua Thompson, Christina Zachary, April Thompson and Stewart Thompson; six great-grandchildren, Miciah and Talani Thompson and Kade Zachary and Isaiah, Aniseh and Lorenzo Henio.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Edward Thompson; and her son Clarence Timothy Thompson; great-grandsons, Kolton Zachary and Mica Brewer; and both sisters, Phyllis and Maryann.

Services for Sue will be held on May 18, at 1:00 PM, in Labadie Heights Baptist Church.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
