Rose Marie (Vaughn) Hudson of Blue Eye, Missouri, Eucha, Jay and Grove, Oklahoma peacefully passed into the loving arms of her Lord, July 30, 205 after a brief illness.
Born June 14, 1944, to Virgie Marie (Bray) and Hampton Aron Vaughn she joined older sister Bobbie Kaye and they all welcomed youngest sister, Jackie, completing their family. Together they all worked hard on the family tobacco farm, café and grocery store/gas station on Table Rock Lake, Blue Eye, Missouri. She was baptized in faith at an early age. In her teens she met the man who would capture her heart, Bobbie Joe Hudson and they wed on March 19, 1960. A year later they welcomed their first child Jerri Laine, followed by the births of Aaron Bob, Sharie Lynn and Andy Joe, and began building a family unit based on love, faith in God and hard work.
Rose was one of the hardest working women God ever created. In adulthood her jobs varied from working in the garment factory in Branson to helping her husband on a ranch. She then began her long career as an office manager for Lindly’s LP Gas and several finance companies. All the way into her seventies she continued to work and began her last job helping her friend Lori at Lori’s salon, Le’Reneau. Her greatest career, however, was loving her family and managing the household. Every house she lived in became a home decorated with her loving touch and eye for design. Her cooking skills were known far and wide. World renowned chefs could not compete with her skills making fried chicken, thanksgiving dressing, biscuits and her epic homemade rolls and loaves of bread. She could whip up a feast that would fill your body but leaving you begging for more. Rose and Bob’s cookouts and holiday feasts would bring not only their kids but their kids’ friends, extended family, neighbors, and later their children’s in-laws. They took great pride in hosting events to feed the soul.
Rose and Bob were kept on the go with their kids’ activities. Ballgames, track, art shows, award ceremonies, graduations, weddings, and births. They tried to be there for each one. Welcoming grandchildren took everything to the next level.
After her husband’s death in 2002, Rose never remarried. She dedicated her life to the Lord, family, friends and her work.
She loved to decorate, tend to her flowers, get her hair and nails done, voraciously read all subjects especially about the Kennedy clan, the mob, Dan Brown books and her Bible, visit with her kids, grandkids, family and friends. Rose loved a good card game of pitch or rummy and wasn’t above trying to cheat to get a win but seldom got away with it unless you let her. We even got her to play cards against humanity once, which was hilarious. She loved road trips. No adventure was too great or too small. Whether it was camping in a tent or staying in a five-star resort – she was up for anything. Restaurants became her favorite adventure as her health made traveling more difficult. Her most requested – Red Lobster and Raggedy’s. Between the biscuits and shrimp the way she liked it and Raggedy’s BLT and pineapple walnut salad – she said they couldn’t be beat.
Rose became “Mama Rose” to so many too numerous to count. She developed deep, special friendships throughout her life that lasted decades, most notably Barbara Beck, Judy Miller and Pat Sturges and formed newer Mama Rose bonds of love with Stephany Littlejohn, Ashton Hopkins, Sandy Haynes, Mariah, Kayla, Tianna, Susan and the three Kelly’s from Grove Nursing Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws Joe and Grace Hudson, daughter Jerri Lane and numerous brothers and sisters in law.
Rose is survived by her sons Aaron Hudson (Sherry) of Eucha, OK, Andy Hudson (LeAnn) of Jay, OK, and daughter Sharie Morrison (Richard) of Jay, OK. Grandchildren Jeremy and Michael Matthews, Brittany Robertson, Bobby Joe Hudson (Tiffany), Brooke Harrel (Monte), EB Hudson, Kirstie Hudson, Jesi Woolard (Ryan) Samantha Chamberlain (Daniel) Callee Lane (Brian), Seth Hudson (Tanna) and Livie Hudson and about 30 great grandchildren with one on the way. Sisters Bobbie Kaye Blevins, and Jackie (Richard) Anderson of Blue Eye, Missouri. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She lived a life of giving to others and loved with her whole heart. She will be missed deeply and remembered with love.
