Robert Oris Heatley, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Jay, Oklahoma surrounded by his family, on February 12, 2026. Born on July 27, 1939, Robert's life was a testament to hard work and love for his family, as he embraced diverse roles throughout his career.
Robert proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a man of many talents, Robert was not only a dairy farmer and cattle rancher but also worked as an auto body technician. His dedication to his livelihood was evident through the care he provided for his family and his love for the land. He had a passion for watching and reading westerns, which reflects his discerning perspective and appreciation for storytelling. An avid tinkerer, Robert found joy in working with his hands and taking on various projects. He also cherished his travel adventures with his wife Mary and embraced his beloved cats.
Throughout his life, Robert shared a deep bond with his wife, Mary. They were married on July 8, 1958, in Miami, Oklahoma, and spent their years together raising their two sons on the family farm in Jay. Robert's love for Mary remained unwavering, even after her passing on March 14, 2021. Their lasting love story is a significant part of the legacy he leaves behind.
Robert is survived by his son Randy Heatley and wife Lorie of Fairview, Missouri, along with their children Jennifer of Exeter, Missouri, and Suzanne of Purdy, Missouri. His son Greg Heatley and wife Michel of Jay, Oklahoma, and their children: Beau Heatley (Michelle), Robert "Luke" Heatley, Jessica Heatley, and Kristin Bennett (Michael). Robert's family further extends to his great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy into his life: Matthew (Hannah), Alexander, Greyson, Hayden, Oubrie, Brandon (Ady), Easton, Gracie, Cynthia, Bradley "Bubba," Natalie, Valerie, Sarah Bell, and Gabriel.
He is also survived by his sister Nora “Susie” and her husband Jim of Ada, Oklahoma, and his sister-in-law Mozelle of Jay, Oklahoma and brother in law Jerry Guy of Jay, OK. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Oris Jackson Heatley and Mary (Simmons) Heatley, his devoted wife Mary Heatley, as well as his brothers Jerry and Luther "Donny."
The community is invited to honor Robert's life during visitation on February 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma. A graveside service will follow on February 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Jay, Oklahoma.
Robert Oris Heatley will be remembered fondly for his dedication to both family and community, leaving behind a legacy rich with love, resilience, and cherished memories.
