Kathryn Diann Heilaman, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, in Grove, Oklahoma. She was born on September 24, 1948, in Creston, Iowa.
Kathryn built a meaningful career as a dental assistant, where she was known for her gentle touch and unwavering professionalism. Her kindness extended well beyond her work through her volunteer efforts with Caring Kitchen, where she gave generously of her time and compassion to those in need.
She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—tending to her flower gardens, enjoying the outdoors through frisbee golf, and taking bicycle rides in the neighborhood with her husband, Obert Heilaman, with whom she shared 22 wonderful years of marriage. She treasured the companionship of her dog and drew daily strength and comfort from studying the Bible, she walked with grace and lived by the word.
Family was at the heart of everything Kathryn held dear. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Obert; her four children, Ginger Overweg, Jason Heilaman, Amanda Leonard, and Obie Leilaman; and her siblings, Mike (Dianne), Janiece, Pam, and Keith. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to six grandchildren—Moriah, Elisha, Grace, Donovin, Dali, and Ashlyn—and a great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Gene Ashbaugh and Donna Jean (Bates) Slamma, whose love and memories remained with her always.
Kathryn’s steadfast faith, gentle spirit, and loving heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She lived a life of quiet strength, grace, and devotion, and though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to be cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
A celebration of her life will take place at a later date in her hometown in Iowa.
