James Gooding

James Eddie “Ed” Gooding, age 81, lifetime resident of Jay, Oklahoma, passed away on May 7, 2021.

Ed was born on January 24, 1940 to James Earl and Ruby Ella (Williams) Gooding.  Ed enjoyed working with his livestock and horses.  He also liked to go hunting, fishing and horseback riding.  He was united in marriage to Margaret Bates in 1990 in Rogers, Arkansas.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters: Allen Gooding, Olan Gooding, William Gooding, Richard, Gooding, Leonard Gooding, Donald Gooding, Lula Lodema Skors and Cassie Zetterburg.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Margaret Gooding, three children: James Elroy Gooding, Rosetta Brown and Joetta Hashman, three stepchildren: William Charles Eggebrecht, Lucian Dale Eggebrecht and Timothy Neal Eggebrecht. He is also survived by two sisters: Minney Mae Young and Annie Wanda Gibson.  James was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are scheduled for 9:00 am, Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
