Gladys Rice

Gladys Claudine Rice, 96 year old Jay resident, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021.  She was born in Granby, MO on March 30, 1925 to Elmer and Tressie (Lasiter) Jackson.  Glady’s was a woman of many talents and interests.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and arts and crafts.  She was ALWAYS up for shopping, especially for shoes.  In her younger years she loved to dance and even taught country/western dancing.  Gladys was an avid animal lover and also enjoyed fishing.  Perhaps her most favorite pastime though, was reading her Bible.

Survivors include her children: Joyce Hawthorne and husband Don of Jay, Mary Lou Locklier of Webb City, MO, Eddie Peacher and wife Cheryle of Jay, and Patricia Huffman of Vossburg, MS, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Rice, and daughter Margaret Thompson
