Frankie Marie Summerfield-Atkins passed away Wednesday night June 14, 2023 at the age of 89, sixteen days before her 90th birthday.

She was born on June 29, 1933, in Jay, Oklahoma to Neda and Dollie (Williams) Summerfield.  She attended Rydenhower rural school, Jay Jr. High and Jay High School.  Frankie loved playing basketball while in Jr. high school, the coach had her playing on the high school varsity team.

Frankie married George Atkins in Miami, Oklahoma, on August 14, 1958.  The made their home in Kenwood, Oklahoma and together raised cattle and hogs. Frankie worked for O’Brien’s and Simmons Foods in Jay, Oklahoma, King Louie in Pryor/Adair for many years, retiring from Jay public schools as a teacher’s aide.

Frankie loved flowers, especially roses.  She was always sewing, crocheting, embroidering or yard selling. She found joy spending time with her family, looking forward to Holidays and Birthdays with camera in hand, always taking pictures.  She spent time researching and collecting information on the genealogy of her family and going to Souls Harbor Church where she attended for many years.

Frankie is preceded in death by her husband George Atkins, parents Neda and Dollie (Williams) Summerfield, brothers Oscar Summerfield and John Summerfield and sister Billie Sue Black.

Frankie is survived by son Larry and Rosalita Sloan, grandson Joe and Leslie Sloan, granddaughter Lora Graves,  great grandsons, Wyatt and Rachell Graves, Wade Graves, Walker Graves, Weston Sloan, Kurk and Taylee Sloan, three great-great grandchildren.  Stepson Jackie and Lana Atkins, stepdaughter Helen Gann.  Step grandsons Paul and Susie Atkins, Kenny and Tammy Gann. Step granddaughters Jacqueline Buss, Rana and Dan Kocsic, Reba Benjamin, Kasha Weise, four step great-great granddaughters, eight step great grandsons, eight step great-great granddaughters and three step great-great grandsons.  Special niece Cindy Summerfield-Tuder and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Honoring Frankie’s life by serving as casket bearers will be Joe Sloan, Larry Sloan, Kurk Sloan, Wyatt Graves, Wade Graves, and Walker Graves.  Honorary bearers; Weston Sloan, Jackie Atkins, Paul Atkins, Eli Atkins, Tyler Buss, and Kenny Gann.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, June 22, 2023.  Services starting at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 23, 2023, both at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay.  Frankie will be laid to rest in Graham Cemetery in Pryor, Oklahoma.
