Era "Shine" Johnson

December 23, 1942 — January 26, 2020

Era “Shine” Lerlene Johnson passed away January 26, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born December 23, 1942 in Waco, Texas the daughter of Herbert Harron Leonard and Opal Learline (Dalrymple) Leonard. Era was raised in the Waco and Conroe, Texas areas. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Jay High and the editor of the Jay Bulldog school newspaper.  She met the love of her life Jimmie Lewis Johnson, Sr. at a revival in Topsy, Oklahoma. Era and Jimmie were married June 12, 1961. They moved to Ketchum, Oklahoma where they raised their family and lived the remainder of their lives. She always jokingly said she hoped for 2 boys and a girl, she just had two boys first.  Era enjoyed playing piano, singing gospel songs, reading her Bible and inspirational books by Beverly Lewis, playing dominoes and board games. She was always in attendance and supported her grandchildren’s many interests. Era volunteered at her church and wrote a new Christmas play/program every year. She was that rare person who loved everyone and was Granny Shine to every child in her vicinity.

Era was preceded by her parents, husband, Jimmie Lewis Johnson Sr.; sister Harlene Barnett; brother-in-law, Bill Barnett, and a brother David Leonard.

Survivors include sons, Jimmie Lewis Johnson, Jr. and wife Carol of Bolivar Missouri; Johnny Johnson and wife Kelly of Ketchum, Oklahoma; Jeffery Johnson of Broken Arrow; Justin Johnson and wife Traci of Claremore, Oklahoma; daughter, Janie Loffer and husband Andy Shepard of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brothers, John Leonard and wife Sue of Conroe, TX, Paul Leonard and wife Sharon of Conroe, TX; sister, Lylene Pilkenton of Conroe, TX; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and family members.
