Bette Irene Grasmick, age 86, entered her heavenly home on June 20, 2024, in Grove, Oklahoma. Bette was born on September 27, 1937, in LaJunta, Colorado. She was a beloved member of her community and touched the lives of many during her time on this earth.
In her professional life, Bette dedicated herself to serving others through her work at the unemployment agency for the state of Colorado. Her commitment to helping those in need left a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
Beyond her career, Bette was a woman of many talents and interests. She was involved in Awana’s and the Toastmasters, but it was her role as a professional clown that brought immense joy to those around her. She was known as "Barney” in the duo of Barney & Buttercup, Bette and her friend Pat Babb entertained countless individuals at church activities, hospitals, birthday parties, and charity events.
Bette's faith was an integral part of her life. She was a dedicated member of the La Junta Baptist Church in Colorado for over 40 years before becoming a cherished member of the Grace Harbor Church in Grove, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her loving family: daughter Jayme Wiles and husband Daniel; daughter-in-law Donnie Stewart and her husband Andy; her three grandchildren; Jonathan Wiles and wife Jeanne, James 'JT' Wiles and wife Ashley, and Eli Grasmick and wife Michelle; and six great-grandchildren; Jessalynn Wiles, Josiah Wiles, Oliver Wiles, Emersynn Wiles, Jagger Grasmick, and Novalie Grasmick.
Bette is preceded in death by her parents Lyle L. Taylor and Beatrice Irene 'Pope' Taylor, as well as her devoted husband James Grasmick and son James 'Andy' Grasmick.
In honoring Bette's memory, let us remember the laughter she brought into our lives and the kindness she showed to all. Her legacy of compassion and joy will continue to inspire us for years to come.
Rest in peace, dear Bette Irene Grasmick. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
