Obituary

Alvin Daniel Jackson, 79, of Zena, Oklahoma, departed this life peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home on July 19, 2026. Alvin was born on July 15, 1947, in Zena, Oklahoma, to A.D. Jackson and Rachel (Messimore) Jackson. He spent the majority of his life in the Zena community, where he became known as a hardworking man with a generous heart and a willingness to help anyone in need.

Alvin proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving in Vietnam in 1968. On November 8, 1979, Alvin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Ellen Barnes. Together they shared over 46 years of love, devotion, and cherished memories while raising their family. Alvin was a skilled mechanic who took pride in fixing just about anything. When he wasn't working, he could often be found fishing, hunting, or enjoying a good Western novel. He loved the outdoors, cherished time with his family, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those around him. Known for his sparkling personality, Alvin passed that same spirited nature on to his children.

Alvin is survived by his wife Mary Ellen, his son, Jason Jackson and wife Robin. His daughters, Delta Spence and husband Gus of Miami, OK. Tonya Reeves and husband Sam of Miami, OK. Tina Kinslow and husband Ollie, Jr of Anderson MO, Danielle Goddard and husband Larry of Miami, OK and Tiffany Jackson of Zena, OK. His brothers, Bruce Jackson of Omaha, TX, Jodie Jackson and wife Marie of Stillwell, OK and Mike Jackson of Jay, OK and a sister, Deborah Kay Jackson of Zena, OK .He was a proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren, Larry “Mike” Goddard Jr, , Lane Kinslow (Jenna), Kaitlin Bohnert (Derrick), Chelsea Fenlon (Michael), Zack Jackson, Bailey Price (Skyler), William Goddard ( Maddison), Samuel Reeves III, Carter Kinslow (Ava), Jeffery Goddard, Jenoah Spurgeon, Lucy Goddard, Olivia Kinslow, Janessa Goddard, Tillie Kay Bramley, His 7 great-grandchildren, Landyn, Macy, Finnigan, Jude, Ameila, Kason and Sophia, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, A. D. and Rachel Jackson; his sisters, Vi Pettegrew, Anita Reid; his brothers, Andrew Jackson and David Jackson; and his infant son.

Alvin will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, unwavering love for his family, and the many lives he touched through his generosity and willingness to put others' needs before his own. His legacy of hard work, compassion, and love will continue to live on in all who knew him.
